Why Join an Academy?
We provide a day off:
- Our academies are drop-off programs that meet one day per week for approximately 6.5 hours.
We provide structure:
- Our academies meet for 30 weeks each year: 15 weeks in the fall and 15 weeks in the spring.
- 7th and 8th grade, students may attend an optional second day focused on additional academic support and enrichment. This day provides targeted instruction in foundational subjects such as composition and science, along with elective options, including math, to further enhance student learning.
We provide accountability, help with planning, and a partner in education:
- For students in 3rd–6th grade, the academy provides grades in communication-based subjects, including composition, grammar (completion-based), literature, and oral presentations.
- Beginning in 7th grade, the academy assumes responsibility for administering in-class quizzes and maintaining online academic records. This supports parents, increases student accountability, and helps prepare students for the expectations of high school.
Community is Central:
- We are made for community, not isolation. It is the setting where the core skills students are learning are lived out, practiced, and refined.
About Our Classes
Classes are thoughtfully structured to align with the student’s developmental stage and attention span with concentrated learning periods followed by hands-on activities to reinforce the material.
Humanities
Bible: Bible history is taught chronologically over a four-year cycle. Each week’s lesson includes a summary of the historical context, key theological truths, a practical application, and a memory verse. (K4–K5 students focus on a Bible verse connected to the Letter of the Week.)
History/Geography: Each class begins with a brief review of the previous week’s material, followed by an engaging introduction to the new lesson. Students in K4–4th grade complete a blackline map in class, while students in 5th–8th grade complete their maps at home, allowing class time to focus on critical thinking and discussion activities related to the lesson.
Cultural Studies: Students deepen their understanding of each historical period by exploring the culture of both ancient and modern societies. Areas of study include diet, customs, and daily life, with an emphasis on art and language. Students examine artwork from the period while developing foundational art skills and learning common techniques. They also learn basic vocabulary in various languages to encourage cross-cultural awareness and build a foundation for future language study.
English Language Arts
Grammar: K4–2nd grade students learn a weekly memory fact and participate in an engaging activity to reinforce the concept. Students in 3rd–8th grade receive direct instruction on grammar concepts that align with and support their weekly homework.
Composition: 1st–2nd grade students practice pre-writing skills through guided exercises connected to their literature read-alouds, preparing them for formal composition in 3rd grade. Students in 3rd–6th grade learn how to outline source material while developing stronger sentence structure and style. In 7th–8th grade, students learn to brainstorm, organize, and outline original ideas in order to compose a variety of essays.
Literature: Students in 3rd–6th grade alternate between historical fiction discussions (class-read books) and genre studies (student selected books from a curated list). Class discussions deepen their understanding of at-home reading, and each genre study culminates in a presentation.
Oral Communications
K4–K5: Students practice early public speaking skills through Show-and-Tell, connected to the Letter of the Week.
1st–4th Grade: Students present “Digging Deeper” reports while developing foundational public speaking skills. In 3rd and 4th grade, additional instruction is provided on the core pillars of communication.
5th–8th Grade: Students learn to express ideas clearly using knowledge they already possess. Weekly class time includes improv exercises and a variety of speaking opportunities designed to strengthen active listening and overall communication skills.
Science
Science class includes a lecture followed by an interactive demonstration, experiment, or hands-on activity, reinforcing key concepts taught and fostering experiential learning.
About Our School Day
Attending Assembly
Our assembly time offers K4-4th grade students a valuable opportunity to reinforce weekly memory work, while also fostering leadership skills. Students take turns leading the Pledge of Allegiance and guiding our corporate prayer, empowering students to grow in confidence and responsibility as they take an active role in their educational community.
Shopping at the Memory Market
Each week, K4-4th grade students have the chance to showcase their knowledge by reciting the memory work they’ve mastered, earning points for their efforts. After six weeks of dedication, they get to experience the excitement of the Memory Market, where they can trade their hard-earned points for fun prizes, turning learning into a rewarding adventure!
Becoming a Memory Master
At the start of the year, some K4-4th grade students set an inspiring goal to memorize all of the memory work they are challenged with. These dedicated “Memory Masters” are celebrated for their incredible achievement at our Year-End Assembly, where their hard work and perseverance are recognized and honored.
Afternoon Break
K4-2nd grade students enjoy a second snack and recess in the afternoon to refresh and recharge. K4-K5 students are given a dedicated rest time in the afternoon to ensure they stay energized and ready to learn.
Serving on Student Council
Our academy offers 5th-8th grade students the opportunity to run for Student Council, where elected representatives can practice servant leadership through a variety of on-campus activities, including organizing pizza sales, theme days, and both on-campus and off-campus events.
Participating in Competitions
Our academy offers numerous opportunities for students to shine in the arts and build character through friendly competition. These include our annual art competition and talent show (3rd-8th Grade) and our creative writing contest and the highly anticipated Unique Design Fair (5th-8th Grade).
Participating in the UD Fair
We believe every student is uniquely designed by God, with their own talents and interests. The Unique Design (UD) Project gives 5th-8th grade students the exciting opportunity to dive deep into a topic they are passionate about. Students focus their research, create a dynamic presentation board, and bring their projects to life. The journey culminates in the Unique Design Fair, a fun and competitive event where students proudly present their projects to the community through engaging interviews—showcasing their hard work, intellectual growth, and newfound confidence as future leaders and speakers.

Curriculum and Tuition:
Most curriculum is developed by Comm. Central and included in tuition. A curriculum list will be provided by the academy in May each year. Additional books needed include the following:
- History, science, and Bible texts
- Uncle Josh’s Blackline Maps
- Grammar Workbooks (beginning in 3rd grade)
- Literature books (can be acquired from the library)
